Design concepts

Concepts for a case study about Monaspace by Lettermatic and Github Next, an innovative superfamily of fonts.

The main driving question was: how to convey the care and effort that went into this extremely detailed and technical superfamily? By using technical drawings, blueprints and annotations, we showcase each of the smaller details that the team intensively worked for over a year.

Visual design

Annotated

This first design direction was inspired by handwriting annotations, the messy in between process of creating something, and sketches.

Blueprint

Inspired by architectural blueprints, this design direction features stamps, handwriting annotation and a more technical look and feel.

CLI interface

Given the technical background of Monaspace, it was only logical to include a design direction merging inspiration from command line interfaces and graphic user interfaces. My personal favorite, had a lot of fun coming up with the speculative buttons and dials.
